Level three Art & Design students from the ‘Cronton School of Arts’ James Ward, Extended Diploma in Graphic Design Yr2, Stephanie Wheatcroft, Extended Diploma in Graphic Design Yr2, Libby Mead, Extended Diploma in Photography Yr2, Jade Clare, Extended Diploma in Art & Design Yr 2 and Jake Hudson, Extended Diploma in Graphic Design and Photography Yr 1 have been successfully shortlisted for the National U.K competition ‘Picturing Time’, which is organised by The Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in London.

Around eighty examples of work are being displayed at Sotheby’s in Bond Street, which have been produced by university and college students nationally. Of the eighty examples of artwork, five are from students studying at the Cronton School of Art at Cronton Sixth Form College which is a fantastic achievement. The exhibition will run from July until September 2013.

Head of School Maxine Mealey said, “We are all thrilled by the news and very proud of them all,  our teaching team are really looking forward to seeing the students artwork exhibited in Sotheby’s in London this summer. What an amazing achievement!  As a School we are celebrating higher rates of employment than ever before, high grades and consistently strong University places. We hope that their success will inspire other young people in the area to expand their horizons and be creative.”

Competition Champion and tutor Dave Lenderyou said, “The ‘Picturing Time’ competition has proven to be an excellent opportunity for our students to gain recognition for their work from potential employers, as well as the chance to win valuable prizes. We are always looking to provide our student’s with the opportunity to work on ‘real life’ briefs to prepare them for the workplace and improve their employability.    As well as entering national competitions we have made links with local businesses to provide work experience opportunities, which really helps our students to develop an understanding of how their studies relate to a career in art and design.”
