An Audience Spellbound by Azkaban
A packed out audience at The Brindley Theatre in Runcorn was spellbound by the latest production from Cronton Sixth Form’s Professional Dance Programme (PDP), ‘Azkaban’.
Inspired by the wizarding world of Harry Potter, the performance depicted the origins of Azkaban; the fortress prison for convicted criminals in the magical world.
Set to an eclectic music playlist with dance styles including lyrical, contemporary and jazz, the show was performed by first and second year PDP students who were eager to take on the roles and demonstrate their talents, being huge fans of the Harry Potter franchise.
The performance starred PDP student Tia Condron playing Ekrizdis, Emily Scott playing Serenity, Melissa Lowe playing Chaos, Jessica Gordon playing Garrick, Courtney Fong playing Rowen, Eva Kiernan playing Heleina and Hannah Taylor playing Sala.
Artistic Director for PDP Benjamin Musa, said “We wanted to do something different and design our own unique story of Azkaban that showcases our dancers and tells a beautiful tale filled with magic and mystery. I would like to thank everyone who has helped support us with this show. We have had an absolutely amazing time creating it and couldn’t have done it without all your help.”
Dancers on the PDP study a nationally recognised qualification and follow a programme that has been developed for both creative and technical dancers. This unique and intensive practical course has been developed for dancers who hold the relevant performance skills for today’s dance industry, leading to training at a university, conservatoire or vocational dance schools.
