Cronton’s Nursing Cadets form partnership with Warrington NHS

Twelve students studying year one of the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma Nursing Cadet Programme at Cronton Sixth Form College, will have the incredible opportunity of joining the Warrington NHS Trust in December, through Patient Support work placements at Warrington Hospital.

The Nursing Cadet Programme is a brand new course at the College, designed to provide students with a broad insight into the healthcare profession and considers the skills and qualities required to work in a range of healthcare settings such as hospitals, doctor’s surgeries and pharmacies.
The two year course has a strong emphasis on integrating theory and practical work, with students able to apply what they have learnt at College to healthcare work placements.
The students will work with the Trust twice a week at Warrington Hospital and will be offered support to ensure they have a valuable experience with opportunity to progress.

The course also makes the most of brand new medical facilities at the College, which includes a four bed ward, simulated patients and an accessible care suite. These facilities help to demonstrate a real working environment, with students able to carry out practical elements such as taking blood pressure, checking heart and pulse rates, and to practice moving and handling.

The experience will provide our students with invaluable preparation for progressing to university and employment.”
