Performing Arts Students blow the audience away with their production of Phantom of the Opera

Students from the Centre of Excellence in Performing Arts at Cronton Sixth Form College were outstanding last week when they took to the stage with their latest production of the Phantom of the Opera.
Skills from many different departments within the College were utilised and everyone worked together to create the fantastic set, costumes, hair and makeup and the orchestra to accompany the show.
Cronton is one of the first Colleges in Europe to perform the show after the rights where released last year.  The cast managed to truly impress a West End star who played Christine in the show in London and performed in the only royal command performance of the show in 1999.
Zoe Curlett, who is originally from Widnes,  was in the audience on the final night completing the three night run with a fantastic treat for the audience as she took to the stage herself and sang one of the songs from the show.
Zoe said is:  ‘I was truly blown away by the students and the production as a whole.  It is an honour to be a Patron to the College.’
Matt Plant, Artisic Director of the Centre of Excellence and director of the show said, “This year the members of the Centre of Excellence in Performing Arts at Cronton Sixth College have been able to truly raise the bar and the students have worked tirelessly as they always do.  They have taken us to new heights in performance standards for the performance of Phantom of the Opera.”
 
“It will be exciting and also nerve wracking to begin production of our new project, Sweeney Todd, but we will also be commencing rehearsals in the knowledge that something very special has taken place with our production of Phantom”
