Talented art student wins Court Artist Competition
Cronton A level student Lucy Short is celebrating after hearing the news that she has won the regional Court Artist Competition.
Lucy, previously from The Heath School entered the court artist category of the Annual National Bar Mock Trial Competition. The competition offers students a unique opportunity for art students to take part in court reporting and produce courtroom sketches.
For the competition, Lucy had to produce pictures depicting the events at the national student Bar Mock Trial Competition. During the trial she observed the in-trial proceedings, taking notes and sketches on the surroundings and the appearance of the various participants. The final piece was then produced outside of court based on these notes, sketches and memory.
Lucy’s work was initially shortlisted by the Citizenship Foundation and then judged by a professional court artist. She has now been invited to the National Final in Edinburgh to receive her prize.
