Science Club: Latest research project
Last week science students from Cronton Sixth Form College were celebrating the completion of their latest research project.
Students who take part in the Cronton Science Club have spent the last term working in small groups to examine projects as diverse as the hardness of different materials, the effect of large amounts of chewing gum, visual problems, the contents of clouds and illnesses with a genetic origin.
Dr Pam Dugdale , Head of Physics, said “As well as conducting the research, the students had to produce a report and were then given a viva to allow them to explain their discoveries. This is excellent practice for intending scientists and we were absolutely delighted with the quality of the work they produced “
Over the next few weeks the students in Science Club will be asked to read some books on contemporary science and to discuss their findings.
