Disney Dream Comes True for Performing Arts Student
Cronton student Nakita Argomandkhah is celebrating after winning an international singing competition which took place in Disneyland Paris.
Nakita, previously from Rainhill High School and from Widnes, is a scholarship student with the Centre of Excellence in Performing Arts at Cronton Sixth Form. She entered the international IFDPA competition with her dance school, taking part in the Senior Solo Singing competition as well as group dance routines. There were over 300 competitors in the prestigious competition, which took place in the Disney resort over one weekend, and the standard of competition was extremely high.
Not only did her dance group routines win first prize, but Nakita was also crowned overall winner of the Senior Solo singing competition with her performance of ‘Colours of the Wind’ from the Disney animated film, Pocahontas. She said, “The competition was amazing and I was over the moon to have won.”
Nakita, who is currently studying on the Professional Dance Programme at the College, has taken part in all of the College productions and is now perfecting her role as Mina in the College’s production of the musical ‘Dracula’ on the 26th – 28th November, as well as preparing for auditions for university and drama schools.
Matt Plant, Artistic Director for the Centre of Excellence said, “I have had the privilege of directing Nakita in major roles from Fontine in Les Miserables to the title character in Jane Eyre and she never ceases to amaze me. Her approach to her work, so much of which is extra-curricular, is faultless and leaves us in no doubt that she has a great deal of success to come.”
