Talented Cronton Music Student Shares Her X Factor Experience
Britani Humphries, a Level 3 Music student at Cronton Sixth Form College, has enjoyed the incredible experience of making it through to the ‘Six Chair Challenge’ stage on ITV’s The X Factor.
Britani, part of girl group ‘Girl Next Door’, made it through the first audition after an impressive cover performance of Usher’s hit song ‘Yeah’. X Factor judges Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh, and Nicole Scherzinger had great things to say about the girls.
Over 70 acts made it through to the next stage ‘Bootcamp’ and the girls continued their impressive form, making it through to the tense ‘Six Chair Challenge’.
In a drama filled episode, Louis Walsh initially refused to give Girl Next Door a chair and sent them home but after boos from the crowd and loud chants of “bring them back”, the girls were brought back onto stage and given a chair. However, in a cruel twist, the girls lost their chair and so sadly did not make it through to the Judges Houses.
This is the second year in a row Britani, from Widnes, has featured on The X Factor. Last year the group made it through to the final 90 acts at Bootcamp and they received some fantastic feedback about their performances.
Britani has been a talented musician from an early age. She regularly sang at school and in local competitions, along with writing her own songs. She is now developing her talent at Cronton’s Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts.
Britani recently commented, “There are so many exciting plans ahead for me and the amazing girls in the band. We have loved every second of our X Factor experience and are proud of one another and we’ve become even closer as a result. We have become really good friends with the finalists in the competition, especially 5 After Midnight and Honey G; they’re inspirational, amazing people.
“I love being a part of the music course at Cronton College. I have met so many amazing friends who have the same interests as me and I have learnt lots of new skills from tutors Dan and Simon, it’s been great so far.
“The X Factor isn’t the end of my music journey; I have so many more exciting ambitions and adventures that I can wait to pursue! This is only the beginning. I am so grateful to Cronton for being there for me from the start and always being supportive of my music career and choices.”
One year on from their first appearance on the show, the girls have signed a five year contract with former Take-That manager Nigel Martin-Smith, and have a bright and promising future ahead of them. Girl Next Door have headlined many different events across the UK, performed in night clubs such as ‘Pop World’, and have given lots of interviews and are now recording their own material.
We wish Britani and Girl Next Door continued success and the best of luck for the future.
