Please note all of our A Level courses must be studied as part of a full time A Level programme. You will choose 3 A level subjects to study over two years.
What is this course about?
You will develop an interest and enthusiasm for Biology, including an interest in further study and careers in Biology. This course includes the study of contemporary areas of Biology.

Entry requirements:
A minimum of 3 x 5’s and 2 x 4’s at GCSE including a Grade 5 in English Language and a Grade 5 in Maths. Plus a Grade 6 in Biology or a Grade 6:6 in Trilogy Science.
What will this course lead on to?
Degrees in Biology, life sciences, medicine, dentistry, physiotherapy and other medically related fields. Careers in research, ecology and biotechnology as well as those in teaching and in a variety of industries.
What will I learn on this course?
In the first year of your A Level Biology course you will learn about cells, the heart and respiratory systems, DNA, cells, biochemistry, natural selection and biodiversity. In the second year you will study ecology, biochemistry of photosynthesis and respiration, genetics, the nervous system, homeostasis, the kidneys and natural selection and evolution.
Enrichment Opportunities
Students can enhance their college experience with super and extracurricular activities including, the Tomorrow’s Scientist Programme which is designed to develop skills in problem based learning, teamwork, leadership, and public speaking. This will be of interest to students who wish to follow medical and science careers.
Are there any costs associated with this course?
All teaching resources are available on the college intranet. Student notes and work booklets will be given to all students. There is a one off payment at the start of the year which covers the cost of lab coat, all subject trips and resources.
