What is this course about?
This programme is designed to provide you with the best ‘hands on’ experience in animal management. The course covers an outstanding blend of practical and theoretical activities covering a wide range of animals and their care, management and well-being. This course has been specifically designed to enhance the career opportunities for anyone wishing to work within the animal sector.

Entry requirements:
5 GCSE Grades at 9 – 4 including a Grade 4 in English Language and Maths and a Grade 4 in Science.
What will this course lead on to?
You could go on to university to study a variety of animal related degrees, or alternatively, one of the following:
- Pet store or kennels/cattery manager
- Trainee veterinary/animal care technician
- Animal rescue centre staff
- Guide dog trainer
- Trainee zookeeper
- Work for DEFRA and Trading Standards
Facilities
The College is extremely fortunate to be able to have its own Animal Resource Centre. The animals we have include Guinea pigs, rabbits, turtles, snakes, reptiles, birds and stick insects to name just a few. The students take over the responsibility for handling and maintaining these animals and to carry out regular health checks on them. The college works alongside several animal related organisations, which give our students regular access to realistic working environments and experience with a full range of species.
How will I be assessed?
Through a variety of practical activities, written assignments, presentations and poster work. You will use this to build a portfolio of evidence throughout your two years.
Are there any costs associated with this course?
There are costs associated with trips, visits & residential trips. You will always be given advance warning of these. You are also required to purchase the Animal Management uniform which you will wear during any practical activity.
