Cronton & Riverside College Celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2022
Cronton Sixth Form and Riverside College enjoyed a brilliant week of events and industry talks which celebrated the College’s fantastic apprentices and showcased how important they are to companies in every industry, all part of National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) 2022.
NAW 2022 was the 15th annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships, and this year’s theme was ‘build the future’. In line with this, the Colleges created a series of videos with Widnes companies; sheet metal fabricators Shearfab Ltd and telecommunications company Great British Communications. Both companies worked with Riverside College to recruit apprentices and the videos highlighted how these additions have been extremely beneficial to the businesses.
The colleges welcomed a host of guest speakers over the week, including national employers and current/former apprentices who inspired learners. This included speakers from Barclays UK, Sellafield Ltd, the Growth Platform, United Utilities, Keepmoat, Jaguar Land Rover, EFT Group Ltd, Regenda Homes, The Sovini Group, Bright Futures, Amazing Apprenticeships and ALSTOM. Each talk helped the students consider new apprenticeship career pathways.
An ‘Ask an Apprentice’ event took place in which students at the college had the opportunity to ask questions to a panel of current apprentices from both colleges to find out their experiences and reasons why they chose the apprenticeship pathway. The apprentices also took part in a social media ‘takeover’ where followers could any questions they have about their job roles.
Jayne Smith, Head of Skills and Enterprise at Riverside College said, “National Apprenticeship Week was a wonderful opportunity to showcase and celebrate how apprentices bring new energy and passion into organisations in every industry.”
“At Riverside College, we work with high profile local and national employers to deliver apprenticeships of exceptional quality. It was brilliant to be joined by employer guest speakers who highlighted the benefits of apprenticeships to our students and promoted their future vacancies which can lead to excellent careers.”
