Cronton Student Lewis Shaw – A Champion in the Making!
2024 has been an unforgettable year for Lewis Shaw! After winning two national titles in 2022 as a U15 athlete, Lewis has continued to dominate, securing multiple titles this year as a U17 hurdler, remaining undefeated all season in the 100m hurdles as well as winning the Pride of St Helens Young Sportsperson of the Year 2024 award for his outstanding achievements!
Season Highlights:
- Stepped up to the 110m hurdles, qualifying for the European U18 Championships with a time of 14.47secs.
- Set a new Merseyside County Championship Record with a blistering 13.24secs in the U17 100m hurdles.
- Smashed his PB at the English Schools Champs, running 13.11secs and earning a place to represent England in the Home Countries International.
- Achieved an incredible 12.94secs in the international race, securing his spot as UK No.1 and a Top 25 All-Time ranking – surpassing legends like Colin Jackson!
- Crowned National Champion (12.94secs) and Northern Champion (13.02secs), breaking a 16-year-old championship record.
With a perfect unbeaten streak, Lewis is now shifting gears into winter training as he prepares to compete in the U20 age category. His ultimate goal is to represent Team GB at the World U20 Championships in America, in 2026.
