Cronton Students Perform at the World Famous Cavern
Following in the footsteps of music legends such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Queen and The Who, music students from Cronton Sixth Form College took to the stage for a live performance at the iconic Cavern Club in Liverpool. The talented students performed at the club last year to widespread acclaim and returned on the 26th of March 2014 for the sold out gig.

The evening featured performances from vocational music students including James Harrison and Danny Jones, both from Runcorn, who are in a band called ‘Beneath the Depths’. They have just released their debut EP which has received critical acclaim. Adam Earle, from Huyton, also performed on the night. Adam has recently been shortlisted to have a one to one piano tutorial with famous jazz musician Jamie Cullum. There were also appearances from ex-students who took time off from their degree courses to assist and mentor.
Course Team Leader for L3 BTEC Music and organiser Dennis Glynn said, “The evening was brilliant, again it was a sell-out with over three hundred people in attendance. The students were phenomenal; excellent ambassadors, not only for Cronton but for any young musician hoping to study and perform at a professional level. Many prospective students were in attendance with their families and the response was overwhelmingly positive.”
Jon Keats, Director of The Cavern Club, said “Despite the Cavern’s rich musical heritage, it is vital we continue to support new up and coming artists and musicians. We were delighted to welcome Cronton Sixth Form College back to the venue to once again showcase their fantastic musical talent. It was a great night, the students were all of a very high standard and we were particularly impressed how professional they were on the night!”
