Meet the Cast:
Matthew Nolan – Thénardier
Studying A level Drama and Theatre, French and Art
Previously from: Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School
Matthew’s interest in performing began 11 years ago when he joined LIPA 4:19. He completed his GCSE Drama at school as well as performing in all the school shows including, Rock of Ages, Schools will Rock Us, Matilda and Sister Act. After joining Cronton Sixth Form College, Matthew joined the Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts and has since performed in Legally Blonde as Professor Callahan and the filming of The Hired Man. Matthew is now taking on the role of Monsieur Thenadier in Les Misérables before heading off to the University of Lincoln to study Drama and Theatre.
Frankie Lamb – Madame Thénardier
Studying A level Drama and Theatre, Geography and Biology
Previously from Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School
This is Frankie’s first major show with the Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts at Cronton but prior to joining Cronton Sixth Form, Frankie has had a lot of theatre experience, including Our House the Musical at the Empire Theatre and Panto at the Brindley Theatre. She is looking forward to performing Madame Thénardier in Les Misérables and said, “It is great to be able to perform in this last show before leaving Cronton, this is my favorite musical, and I knew I had to be in it.” Frankie will be heading to the University of Lincoln to study Drama and Theatre in September.
Jack Wright – Marius
Studying A level Drama and Theatre, Business and Economics
Previously from St Gregory’s Catholic High School
Jack is in Year 1 at Cronton Sixth Form and is looking forward to performing in his first show as part of the Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts. He studied GCSE Drama at school and is considering studying performing arts at university. He is looking forward to performing in this streamed version of Les Misérables and is hoping to perform in more shows live in the Cronton Playhouse next year.
Lucy English – Cosette
Studying A Level Drama and Theatre, English Literature and Psychology
Previously from Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School
This is the second time Lucy has played the character of Cosette in Les Misérables, the first time was in a LIPA 4:19 production, which she attended from the age of 5. She has also appeared in many other shows including playing Nancy in Oliver and is currently playing Maria in West Side Story. She said, “I love the character of Cosette and am looking forward to playing her again in the Centre of Excellence production.”
Lauren Geraghty – Gavroche
Studying A Level Drama and Theatre, Sociology and English Literature
Previously from Wade Deacon High School
This is Lauren’s third show with the Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts at Cronton, appearing in Legally Blonde and the filming of The Hired Man during her first year. She studied Drama GCSE in school, alongside performing in The Sound of Music, Billy Elliot, and Grease. Lauren has also taken part in many shows during her 5 years with the Andrew Curphey Theatre Company. She said, “It is really nice to be performing in this show, it will be my last show at Cronton and it is even better that it is Les Misérables.” Lauren will be heading off to the University of Warwick in September to study English and Drama.”
Rhianna McEwen – Eponine
Studying A Level Music, Biology and Psychology
Previously from St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Academy
Rhianna is a 1st-year student at Cronton and has gained many years of performance experience with Rainhill Musical Theatre Group and Imaginarium Theatre; performing different styles of shows from musicals to more traditional Shakespeare productions and outdoor theatre, as well as studying GCSE Music at school. Les Misérables will be a different kind of experience because it is being streamed live from the Cronton Playhouse and Rhianna said, “It will be strange having video cameras instead of an audience, but we have enjoyed experimenting with the cameras in rehearsal.”
Alexsandra Nicol – Fantine
Studying UAL Level 3 Professional Theatre Programme
Previously from Padgate Academy
Alexsandra performed in many productions during her time at LIPA 4:19 and the StagePro Academy including, playing Fiona in Shreck the Musical, Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar, and as Annie in the musical Annie. She also placed second in the Accent Music Education Hub’s Young Musician of the Year competition in 2019. During her time at the Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts at Cronton, Alexsandra has also performed in Legally Blonde. She said, “The experience has been insane and has really helped me grow as a performer.” This is her last production at Cronton, as Alexsandra will now head off to Barcelona in September to study at the Institute of the Arts.
Rebecca Powell – Ensemble
Studying A Level History, English Literature, French and Maths
Previously from Wade Deacon
Even though Rebecca is not studying a performing arts subject at Cronton she has performed in all of the Centre of Excellence shows during her time at college, including Legally Blonde and the filming of The Hired Man. She has always loved performing and has taken part in many school and external productions including A Christmas Carol and Grease. She was also involved in the NDTS Theatre School and danced in many styles including Ballet, Tap, and Modern. This is Rebecca’s final show at Cronton before she heads to the University of Oxford in September to study History and French.
Morgan Brame – Jean Valjean
Studying A level Drama and Theatre, English Literature and Psychology
Previously from Wade Deacon
In his first year at Cronton Sixth Form, Morgan took part in Legally Blonde and was involved in the 10th Anniversary Concert which was filmed during the first lockdown last year. He has extensive performance experience appearing as Danny in Grease, Billy Elliot, and The Sound of Music in School. Outside of school and college, Morgan has appeared as Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar and Mr Bubble in Oliver with LIPA 4:19 and recently as Puck in Electric Dreams, a professional production performed in Norton Priory. This is Morgan’s final role at Cronton as he heads to the University of Warwick in September to study Theatre and Performing Arts.
Alfie Rourke – Javert
Studying A Level Drama and Theatre, Business and Criminology
Previously from Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School
As well as studying and performing in shows at college, Alfie has played Bill Sykes in a performance of Oliver with LIPA 4:19. He is looking forward to seeing the finished product of this live-streamed version of Les Misérables, “because of all of the hard work the whole and cast and production team have put in to create a really good viewing experience for all of the audience.”
