Maths students from Cronton Sixth Form receive awards at the UK Maths Challenge
Sixteen students from the Centre of Excellence in Science and Maths at Cronton Sixth Form College are celebrating after being awarded their certificates from the UK Maths Challenge.
The students sat a ninety minute exam with over 60,000 A level maths students from across Great Britain and countries as far away as China, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand. They have just been informed of the fantastic results they have achieved.
Jack Austin previously from St Peter & Paul RC High School, Luke Howard from Penketh County High School, Mark Taylor and Robert Hoos from Wade Deacon High School, Matthew Burniston from Gateacre Comprehensive and Luke McGarry from Grange Comprehensive School were all awarded silver awards for their efforts.
Bronze awards went to Jonathan Rigby, Bethany Lacey, George Margereson, Rebecca Laws, Sam Ellis, Elliot Bryce, Ritchie Redmond, Jonathan Molloy, Thomas Lloyd, and Jordan Swindells.
Phil Taylor, Head of the Centre of Excellence in Maths and Science at Cronton said, “This is a wonderful achievement for the students.”
“Given that all of the candidates are good A Level mathematicians, expected to achieve an A or B in their A level exam, the results this year are very impressive and I am extremely proud of the students success.”
