Performing Arts Students Bring Festive Cheer to the Cronton Playhouse with ‘A Christmas Carol’

Students from Cronton Sixth Form College’s Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts captivated audiences over five sold-out shows with their stunning performance of the classic festive musical, ‘A Christmas Carol’.

The magic of Charles Dickens’ timeless story was brilliantly brought to life by an ensemble of talented students, including Daniel Capener as the infamous Scrooge, Isabel Cosgrove as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Phoebe Tasker as the Ghost of Christmas Present, Cameron Foulkes as the Ghost of Christmas Future, and Daniel Ford as Jacob Marley.

The fantastic costumes and set were enhanced with exceptional makeup artistry, which was crafted by talented students from Riverside College’s HNC/HND Performing Arts (Technical Arts) courses.

Matt Plant, Director, commented, “Watching our talented students breathe life into the characters of ‘A Christmas Carol’ was an absolute joy. Their dedication, passion, and commitment to the craft illuminated the stage.

“We first produced A Christmas Carol in 2010 at the very start of the Centre of Excellence’s journey. Now, 13 years on, we are reminded how timeless this Dickens’ tale is and how much it still has to say to every one of us.”

As the curtains draw on this production, anticipation now builds for the Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts’ return to the Cronton Playhouse. ‘The Secret Garden’ is the next exciting production and will take place on Thursday 28th March 2024.
